Bethany Baptist Church was organized in 1973 as an outreach of the Mid-East Baptist Conference and the Baptist General Conference (now known as Converge). Bethany is now in the process of joining the Reformed Baptist Network.
Only twenty minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, Bethany is located in McCandless Township, a suburb north of the city. The church structure (built in 1975) is located in a neighborhood and consists of a multipurpose building and an attached sanctuary (built in 1984), with classroom facilities forming the downstairs of the church building.
The Sunday morning Worship Service includes the singing of traditional hymns along with selected contemporary choruses. The preaching is primarily expository. Every Worship Service (excluding the third Sunday of the month) consists of a time for the sharing of praises and prayer requests. The Lord’s Supper is practiced on the third Sunday of the month along with an evening Prayer Service. On the first Sunday of the month there is a fellowship luncheon immediately following the service in which all are invited to attend.
The leadership of the church is through a board of Elders. The church polity is Elder rule.
